During this introductory session, Dr. Robert Macy--the key architect of the Trauma Response Network-- will talk about the relationship between trauma and violence and what we can do about it. Attendees will also have an opportunity to learn about plans for the roll-out of the Network of Neighbors in Philadelphia and how they can be involved.

At the conclusion of the Introductory Session, attendees will:

  • Understand the impact of violence in communities

  • Learn about evidence-based interventions and approaches for addressing violence and trauma in communities.

  • Be able to explain the Network of Neighbors and know how to access the Network for assistance in their communities

  • Receive information on how to get involved

The Network of Neighbors Responding to Violence is a neighbor-driven network of trained and credentialed trauma responders who will support their communities after incidents of violence in their neighborhood. The Network uses a standardized, group-based response model to intervene after incidents in order to decrease the stress and posttraumatic reactions of those who experience community violence.
